Norwood Community Chorus
The members of the chorus are comprised of people with ties to the City of Norwood - residents, church attendees, school alumni, etc. The chorus was developed in 2008 by Zion's chancel choir director, Judy White and meets twice a month at Zion for rehearsals.
After 10 years of performances that connected the community with song the all-volunteer Norwood Community Chorus will end this year. The chorus will perform a F...arewell Concert Sing, Sing, Sing! on Sunday, November 13 at 3:00 PM at the Norwood Middle School auditorium. The concert will feature favorites from past performances including Les Miserables, Jersey Boys, pop country, and patriotic songs. The NCC has brought joy and raised the spirits of hundreds of people with over 25 free concerts and special appearances including Norwood Promise fundraiser, City of Norwood Christmas tree lightings, and Norwood City Schools Alumni Association events. At the 2012 World Choir Games hosted in Cincinnati the Chorus brought a Silver Award home to a proud City of Norwood. With the perfect blend of people and resources, Judy Mara White, a 1963 graduate of Norwood High School, founded the NCC in 2006. The NCC success came from the collaboration with friend and accompanist Allan Martin, the Zion United Church of Christ for generous use of their facility for rehearsals and performances, and the financial support of music patron Isabel Hall. From a nucleus of 24 members, the NCC grew to over 50 members, from students to senior citizens. Most members live or work in Norwood and are Norwood alumni or go to a Norwood church. They have invested over 16,000 hours of volunteer time to bring performances to the community.
The Chorus has enjoyed performing and is thankful for and appreciates the strong support of the Community!
